StudentTracker for High Schools FAQs

Can I conduct a search to find out which high schools our students attended?

No. StudentTracker only confirms postsecondary enrollment and degree information.

I’m an independent researcher and would like to access StudentTracker for High Schools as an agent on behalf of a school district. How can this be accomplished?

A school district participating with StudentTracker can authorize an independent researcher to prepare reports based on a StudentTracker response file. The relationship between the school district and the researcher is established and maintained at the school district level.

How can a school district sign up for StudentTracker?

1) The high school district must sign a StudentTracker for High Schools agreement with the Clearinghouse.

2) Once you compile graduate data from the district’s high schools, you will transmit the records to the Clearinghouse in Excel format using the instructions in our guide.

3) You must transmit the data via your Clearinghouse secure FTP account.

4) You will receive an email when your StudentTracker for High Schools response file is ready for you to download from your Clearinghouse secure FTP account. You are responsible for downloading the response data from us and disseminating it back to the district and/or school(s).

5) StudentTracker for High Schools invoices will be sent to your school district for payment.

Why isn’t date of birth included in the StudentTracker response file?

StudentTracker only returns fields designated as directory information. Because many institutions participating in the Clearinghouse do not list date of birth as directory information, it cannot be returned in a StudentTracker file. However, if you want to use it as an identifier or study ID, you can include date of birth in the requestor return field, which is returned in the detail record for all students.

Why isn’t the enrollment status field returned for all students in our data file?

A few institutions do not list enrollment status as directory information. Because StudentTracker only returns fields designated as directory information, you will not receive enrollment status for students who attended institutions that do not include it in their directory information disclosure.

How do I set up my printer window to print my StudentTracker aggregate report properly?

In order to print your aggregate report correctly, you must select “Fit to Printable Area” from the “Page Scaling” dropdown and check the “Auto Rotate and Center” box on the print window.
