The Director of Research plays a critical role in leading and advancing major projects related to the success of the National Student Clearinghouse. The successful candidate will support Executive Director of Research in the management of various aspects of NSC Research Center. The candidate will be also responsible for the development and implementation of. The Director will play a key role in articulating the benefits and challenges of implementation of the NSC Research Center.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the analytical integrity of all NSC studies.
- Build and develop research teams as needed by NSC.
- Provide direction and guidance to customer researchers as they conduct their studies. For example, work with the high school and college institutional researchers, Department of Education, Veterans Administration, guaranty agencies, SHEOO’s and the College Board with their requests for and utilization of Clearinghouse data.
- Work closely with Associate Research Directors and research support teams in the delivery of services.
- Oversee studies conducted by consultants which combine Clearinghouse data with other national-set data (for example, studies which combine Clearinghouse data with College Board or ACT data, or Clearinghouse data with FASFA data from selected states).
- Developing and build consensus on a proactive NSC agenda in research areas.
- Organizing and managing research resources to support the NSC Research Center.
- Defining and producing measurable outcomes.
- Assisting the Executive Director of Research in the development of innovative partnerships, internal structures, administrative systems, policy positions, and other initiatives that enhance the NSC Research Center both internally and externally.
- Collaborate with internal teams.
- Design and conduct studies using Clearinghouse data as only source (FlashReport, Benchmarking studies etc.).
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess fluency in SAS.
- Demonstrated successful program leadership and multi-project coordination.
- At least 4 plus years of management experience of research teams.
- Proven track record in leading programs to achieve goals and timelines.
- Ability to perform successfully in a cross-functional team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Advanced degree (Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent) with at least 4 years experience in an industry setting.
